The Kitchen is Done!

Well almost...

The past few weeks, Mike and I have been working diligently on finishing our kitchen. It has been "in progress" for a year now so we figured it was about time to finish it off. We recently installed a tile backsplash which turned out much better than anticipated.

When we moved into our house, the kitchen was a mess. It had two different counter tops and some of the counter was missing all together. It had a small sink and the dishwasher was not even installed. It just kind of hung out in between the cabinets. The floor had two different colored grouts and the light fixture was missing completely. Here is a before picture. From far away it doesn't look all that bad. So you can't see the horrible grime all over the cabinets that made them sticky to touch. Or the missing outlets. Etc etc etc... I guess that is what you come to expect when you buy a foreclosure.

We ended up removing all the cabinets. Every last one of them and reconfiguring the entire kitchen. I wish I had taken more "in progress" pictures but we were still living in Stoughton at the time. We raised the soffit to fit our ginormous refrigerator and replaced the flooring. Last weekend we finally finished by painting all the walls. I should make a list of everything we needed to replace but it is so extensive that I will save that for our next project. Did I mention I started the downstairs bathroom last weekend too?
So here it is, almost finished. Minus the toe kick and a few outlet covers...

  1. Hmmm... For some reason the walls look purple. Well they are not. They are grey... Weird.
